I'd like to take this opportunity to explain a little bit about why we, [and probably you], are here.
The short answer is 'veedeeoh games', but I don't think that nearly does it all justice. Let me give you a bit of the personal history behind the three of us, at least from my perspective.
It's a few years ago, Highschool for me infact, and I'm celebrating the birthday of a good friend of mine, who for the sake of this conversation we'll call Norm. There's some guy there I don't know, lets call him Gaunt, a friend of Norm's who, for whatever reason, I've never met. Being the golden age of the Super Nintentdo, Norm gets a copy of [the classic] NBA Jam. Through the loose tournament rules that seem to spring up around all console-centric gatherings, I eventually end up playing with the stranger, and completely wipe the floor with him. His ears would ring with 'boomshakalaka' for days. This of course is probably entirely untrue, I don't really remember the outcome at all, just that I had a great time playing.
A while later I'm at Gaunt's place, and we're playing the original Dark Forces [That is to say we're taking turns at trying to beat levels, this was a time when games didn't wuss out on the amount of levels or level difficulty], when one of the best digital moment's I've ever experienced happens. Everyone has war stories, and there have been plenty of incidents since, but there are moments, and then there are classics.
Sneaking along a rocky crag Gaunt spots a group of stormtroopers [If you haven't played the game, it's based on a non-sullied Star Wars universe] and a commanding officer marching around in formation. He moves out of sight quickly, and while hiding up on the ledge above them we can hear them marching around below. Out comes a thermal detonator [a grenade, but star warsier] and he rolls it off the edge of the cliff.
